About Buffalo Duck
Our Story
Before we got married, Stephanie was a successful optics engineer, and I was a high school choir director and church worship leader. But instead of enjoying two solid incomes, we chose deep financial sacrifice early on for the sake of a greater gain later.
Family has always been important to us, and becoming entrepreneurs gave us what we wanted most: the flexibility to spend real time with our kids and even include them in our work. This business is part of the life story we want to tell them as they grow up — that it’s okay to take big risks, and that even in today’s world, it’s still possible to prioritize raising a family over maximizing income.
In February of 2020, we started the business as real estate investors; that’s where we quickly learned how difficult it could be to find reliable contractors we could trust.
In 2024, we added the handyman branch of our business to help support our monthly income. While real estate is great for building long-term wealth, it wasn’t covering our month-to-month essentials.
The handyman side took off much faster than we expected. Pretty soon, I had more customers than I could personally serve and was booked out more than a month in advance.
That’s when I started adding team members I knew I could trust — people who treat customers with respect and show the same level of care we built this business on. We’ve been growing ever since.

Jason was prompt and responsive in arranging for the service to be performed, and Landon did a great job in repairing the damage to the ceiling in one of our bedrooms. Jason is the best handyman I have ever had. He is tall and strong and efficient. He is extremely knowledgeable. He can do almost anything. Once again there are not enough stars for Jason. He did everything on my list, some of which I thought were impossible to do. I don’t know what I would do without him. I am renting out my front bedroom, and there is a lot of work that needs to be done for that. Jason does it all and he does it all very well and very efficiently.
